Passport Service in Indonesia
The Government of the
Republic of Indonesia issues passports to its citizens residing both inside and
outside the country. These documents are valid for a period of six months from
the date of issue and can be renewed if necessary. There are two main types of
passports: ordinary and diplomatic.
Ordinary passports (e-passports) can be issued to either citizens or migrant workers, both in and out of Indonesian territory. There are a number of different ways to submit the passport application, including through an online service and by using a manual process biro jasa paspor.
Electronic e-Visas
for Business Travelers
The government of
Indonesia launched an e-Visa system to streamline the visa application process
and reduce the number of in-person visits required by foreign nationals.
Applicants can complete the visa application form on an online platform,
provide supporting documentation, and pay the required fees to receive their
visas in minutes.
A traveler's passport
must have at least one blank visa page (typically the last few pages are marked
"Amendment" and are not valid for visas). It is also important to
ensure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your intended
arrival date in Indonesia.
Vaccination
Requirements
A foreign national
must be fully vaccinated before they can enter Indonesia. This vaccination
requirement is aimed at controlling the spread of communicable diseases such as
dengue fever and hepatitis B. It is recommended that all travelers be
vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine course in advance of travelling to
Indonesia.
Travellers who are
medically exempt from the vaccination requirement must show a negative PCR test
taken three times 24 hours prior to their departure, along with proof of
exemption. They are also required to install the PeduliLindungi app on their
mobile phones to demonstrate proof of vaccination within Indonesia.
Depending on their
immigration status, some travellers may be allowed to enter Indonesia with a
single-entry visa, which allows them to stay in the country for a maximum of 30
days. If they wish to extend their visa once they have arrived in the country,
they can do so by applying for a single-entry extension at a local Indonesian
embassy or consulate.
Cover Colour and
Translation: The latest version of an ordinary Indonesian passport is issued in
a turquoise green color. It depicts the bearer's photo on the front and the
'passport' symbol in a white center. The 'passport' symbol is bilingual in both
Indonesian and English.
Diplomatic Passports:
These passports are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Indonesian
subject(s) who are serving as diplomat or government persons and would travel
for official purposes. It also covers their immediate family members who would
travel with the subject(s) as long as they are not a foreigner or an employee
of a third country.
An ordinary
Indonesian passport is issued by the immigration office in the same province of
its holder's domicile. It is available in two versions: a dark green version
and a version that is covered with turquoise green.
